The nine-member Alamo Colleges District Board oversees policy direction for five independently accredited community colleges — San Antonio College, Palo Alto College, St. Philip’s College, Northwest Vista College and Northeast Lakeview College.
The board’s members serve staggered, six-year terms, and two of them, Lorraine Pulido (District 4), and Clint Kingsbery (District 8), are unopposed this election and will not appear on the ballot.
But a third member, attorney Leslie Sachanowicz, who represents District 9, drew three challengers.
Among the top issues facing the board is responding to the tremendous growth in student demand, delivering a workforce that meets local industry needs, and executing a nearly $1 billion bond that voters approved last year.
