San Antonio-area cargo and freight company 4XH Logistics is laying off 230 workers, according to a notice filed with the state.
The Boerne-based company said it was laying off workers between Nov. 6 and Nov. 19.
It filed a notice with the Texas Workforce Commission on Sept. 10.
Employers with 100 or more full-time employees are required to submit a notice to the state under the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act of 1988. Those layoffs are listed online by the Texas Workforce Commission.
4XH Logistics was founded in 2019 and run by Gabriel Hilario. In an interview Monday with the San Antonio Business Journal, Hilario said the company’s contract with Amazon expired and he expected workers to find alternative employment.
The company employed delivery drivers for Amazon and its salaries started at $18 an hour, according to 4XH Logistics’ website and social media platforms.
Hilario did not respond to a request for comment as of publication time.
Joblessness increased in San Antonio at the start of the summer, with unemployment rates climbing to 4.8% in June and 4.7% in July, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics. In August, BLS economist Justin Copple said those numbers could be driven in part by the start of summer vacation and the end of some school-related jobs.
4XH Logistics’ layoffs are the fifth WARN Notice in San Antonio in the last six months after Saks Fifth Avenue, National Safety Apparel, 80 Acres Farms and Postal Center International and its 230 workers make it the largest layoff so far.
