As the holiday season approaches, Valero is reminded of the importance of giving back. At Valero, a culture of caring for others has been part of the company’s identity for more than four decades.
Valero’s annual United Way campaigns are wrapping up across the company, helping fund critical programs in the communities where it operates. Since 1980, Valero and its employees have contributed more than $300 million through United Way, making it the company’s longest-running community outreach initiative.
In San Antonio, Valero employees generously pledged more than $5.1 million this year to the United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County, exceeding the company’s goal of $3.9 million.
Additionally, nearly 200 employees participated in Valero’s annual Day of Caring, volunteering their time and skills to complete improvement projects for a United Way partner agency. This year, employees worked with Family Service’s Neighborhood Place, cleaning, painting, gardening and building picnic tables to help transform the 64,000-square-foot facility into a welcoming space where individuals and families can continue to learn, connect and thrive.
Valero’s commitment to caring for others is also reflected in the Valero Benefit for Children. Through this program, hundreds of charities receive grants to support children’s programs focused on basic needs, healthcare and education in the communities where Valero employees live and work. These contributions are made possible through the generosity of Valero’s business partners, whose support helped raise $25.2 million through this year’s Valero Texas Open and Benefit for Children, bringing the tournament’s all-time charitable giving to more than $306 million. Valero values these partnerships and appreciates its business partners’ shared commitment to helping strengthen the communities the company calls home.
Looking ahead to the holidays, November will mark 20 years of ‘Valero’s Thanksgiving with the Troops,’ when employees come together to host local military service members who are unable to spend the holiday with their families. This special tradition is one way Valero expresses its gratitude to those who serve while honoring San Antonio’s proud military heritage.
In December, Valero’s spirit of giving continues through ‘Valero’s Adopt-A-Family’ program, where employees help fulfill Christmas wish lists in partnership with the San Antonio Police Department’s Blue Santa, Family Service and Any Baby Can, helping make the holiday season brighter for hundreds of families across San Antonio.
Turning to business, Valero recently reported strong results for the third quarter, a testament to the company’s consistent operational and commercial performance. Valero’s business teams executed well in all three of its reporting segments — refining, renewable diesel and ethanol. Operators in the field focused on running Valero’s refineries at near record levels of production to help keep the market supplied with critical transportation fuels needed for everyday life.
