On Saturday, June 6, the doors ofTthe DoSeum will open to host its grand opening celebration in the heart of an emerging culture and business corridor on Broadway Street. The big unveil of the new children’s museum is open to the public, but half-priced $5 tickets will be required to enter the museum beyond the free outdoor activities and celebrations. Tickets to enter the museum on Sunday, June 7, are $10 – the general admission price for the museum.
Online ticket sales for both days will start Friday, May 1, at 10 a.m. at www.thedoseum.org/grandopening and the DoSeum’s box office will open May 15 to sell remaining tickets on site and online. Tickets are expected to sell out quickly for both days.
Visitors will be purchasing timed tickets so the DoSeum and its staff can avoid an overwhelming when doors open in the morning. Families can choose from various times on Saturday and Sunday to visit, starting at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. respectively, in 30-minute intervals, and the last entry set at 5:30 p.m. and 5 p.m.
The $46 million, 65,000 sq. ft. project designed by Lake Flato takes up much of the 2800 block of Broadway Street across from Lions Field Park and features indoor and outdoor enjoyment for children of all ages. The on site parking, 50% more space, and outdoor activities take the new facilities to a level miles above its former location on Houston Street, now closed and awaiting sale.
