This summer has been marked by devastating floods in the Texas Hill Country, leaving behind widespread damage, displaced families, and communities facing many hardships.

It’s been remarkable to see the San Antonio community and the entire state of Texas step up in the face of disaster and rush in to meet the urgent needs of families affected by this tragedy. From emergency responders and aid organizations to local businesses, the response has been incredible.

Valero also responded quickly, supporting organizations on the front lines, including the Salvation Army, San Antonio Food Bank, Texas Search and Rescue, and the American Red Cross. This is a testament to the Texas spirit of coming together in times of need.

Valero employees also volunteered alongside other local organizations to distribute food, water, cleaning supplies, and fuel cards to hundreds of families in Kerrville. Valero employees have given personally, with their donations being matched dollar-for-dollar by the company. These funds will go directly to the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country’s Kerr County Relief Fund to help those affected rebuild their lives. Team Valero will continue to help the community recover from this tragedy.

It’s in these moments that the strength of Valero’s people comes through — caring, and always ready to show up when it matters most. The kindness and generosity of Valero employees reflects the heart of the company — people helping people.

Every summer, for more than 25 years, Valero has hosted an internship program at locations across the company, including its headquarters in San Antonio. This program, recently recognized by U.S. News and World Report, has become the main recruiting vehicle for their workforce, providing students an avenue to learn about Valero’s culture and gain meaningful hands-on experience.

This summer, more than 250 interns from over 50 colleges and universities have been working at Valero across a variety of business functions, including engineering, accounting, commercial supply and trading, information systems, cybersecurity, legal, communications, and human resources. Valero appreciates their work, and wish them all the best in their future.

Whether producing essential transportation fuels or being there for neighbors in times of need, Valero’s commitment to the communities where they live and work never wavers.

Valero is grateful to support the San Antonio community and proud to call this city home.
