Concerns that the Texas Cavaliers River Parade would be canceled under the threat of heavy rains subsided when festive music, hundreds of revelers, dozens of river barges, and the vibrant colors of Fiesta flooded the River Walk on Monday night – without the forecasted interruption.

The River Walk banks were not as crowed as previous years due to weather concerns. A flash flood watch will remain in effect until 10 a.m., and thunderstorms are anticipated through Thursday. The Fiesta Commission is keeping track of officially canceled events here.

Local celebrities and Fiesta royalty were carried by more than 40 floats. This year’s theme was “River of Champions.” King Antonio XCI, R. Hunt Winton III led the Texas Cavaliers through the parade along with City Council members, Grand Marshall Trey Embrey, and honorary Grand Marshal Ricardo Romo.

Every year the Texas Cavaliers donate hundreds of thousands of dollars to charities throughout Bexar County. The social club was founded in 1926 by John B. Carrington with the purpose to promote the values of the Alamo defenders, bravery and independence now has an emphasis on investing in education as well.
