This Friday’s video features a sweet inside look at an authentic neighborhood happening: the pushcart derby in San Antonio’s Dignowity Hill neighborhood, now in its eighth year. The video came to us via the San Antonio Stories series, a project of our own San Antonio Convention Bureau that aims to promote the local arts scene.

Produced by San Antonio filmmaker Jim Mendiola, and the brainchild of artist Cruz Ortiz, the five-minute clip reflects the rich neighborhood vibe apparent in many pockets of our city. Mendiola is an accomplished filmaker who has served as the Director of the San Antonio CineFestival and as a contributor to the San Antonio Current. Guerilla artist Ortiz embraces the whimsical (and he did a great job at Pechakucha Volume 6 last night).
