Hemisfair’s Yanaguana Garden has reached its final turn and is sprinting to the finish line in anticipation of its Oct. 3 launch. The 4.1-acre outdoor activity space is receiving final touches, and it has been worth the wait. A blue panther, multiple play structures, a splash pad, and giant chess boards are all ready for daily users. The grounds, which used to be a fairly cluttered empty space, has now turned into a well thought out public space made for all ages.
The ultimate completion of Hemisfair is set for 2020. The next section to be finished, Civic Park, will open in 2018, and Tower Park will open in 2020. Yanaguana Garden takes up just 10% of Hemisfair’s total footprint. Hemisfair is no longer just a large amount of land surrounding a tower, it’s a downtown game changer that will energize the community, and it all starts with Yanaguana Garden.
Yanaguana Garden Grand Opening Weekend:
Friday, Oct. 2: A night out in the park with music, food trucks and a beer tasting.
Saturday, Oct. 3: Official ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. with music and programming for the whole family.
Sunday, Oct. 4: Six artists will be on site for creative play with kids and fitness demonstrations will also take place.

Reminds me of Seattle center and the space needle. Just not as cool. I’m excited to see the change San Antonio needs innovation

This would be a good stop for the E-Bus!
