North East Independent School District Superintendent Brian Gottardy will retire from his post atop San Antonio’s second largest district at the end of this school year.
“It has been an honor and a privilege to be the Superintendent of North East ISD,” Gottardy said. “Eight years ago, I was humbled and very proud about being the next superintendent of NEISD. I have the utmost respect and admiration for the students, parents, employees, and community members who make up this great District. NEISD will forever hold a very special place in my heart.”
Gottardy began his career with NEISD in 1985 as a physical education teacher and coach. He went on to work in Southwest ISD as a coach, administrator, and transportation director before returning to NEISD as the executive director of transportation in 2000.
He was later named the associate superintendent of operations before being named the superintendent in 2011. During Gottardy’s term as superintendent, the district passed two bond programs in 2011 and 2015.
Trustees will meet on Jan. 23 to begin the process to replace Gottardy before his June 30 retirement.
