Racers competed around a 0.6 mile loop during timed events with cash prizes announced for certain laps. The first-of-its kind race in San Antonio’s urban core closed down city streets and brought approximately 175 competitors and almost as many spectators.

Director Aaron Nelson said that he created the event as a Criterium race, a one-day bicycle race on a circuit road course. Nelson added that this was a first step. They were hoping to have even bigger and better races in the years to come.

Other Bike Bash partners include Bicycle Heaven, one of the main contributors, Sunbelt RentalsDy Lynne Décor, Certified Automotive Repair Service, and Dabney Homes.
