Jelly and Jam Racing Company hosted the inaugural San Antonio Bike Bash downtown on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 8 and 9. Racers competed around a 0.6 mile loop during timed events with cash prizes announced for certain laps. The first-of-its kind race in San Antonio’s urban core brought approximately 175 competitors and almost as many spectators.
Director Aaron Nelson said that he created the event as a Criterium race, a one-day bicycle race on a circuit road course. Nelson added that this was a first step. They were hoping to do well with the event this year in order to have it bigger and better for years to come.
Other Bike Bash partners include Bicycle Heaven, one of the main contributors, Sunbelt Rentals, Dy Lynne Décor, Certified Automotive Repair Service, and Dabney Homes.
