Nashville-based healthcare company HCA Healthcare has acquired The College of Healthcare Professionals (CHCP), including its two San Antonio locations.
The Houston-based school trains allied health professionals, which includes physical therapists, lab technicians, dieticians and other kinds of providers outside of medicine and nursing. The college maintains two locations in San Antonio, including one on the North Side and another serving the South Side.
HCA Healthcare is one of the 50-50 partners that fund the Methodist Health System in San Antonio, the largest hospital system. The other half is funded by Methodist Healthcare Ministries of South Texas, a local nonprofit focused on health equity.
CHCP serves more than 8,000 students across its 10 campuses in Texas and online programs. The college offers over 20 accredited healthcare programs for careers across a range of allied health disciplines, according to the news release from HCA Healthcare.
HCA Healthcare also recently acquired Texas MedClinic urgent care clinics in Austin, Houston and San Antonio.
“Together with CHCP, we will work to create more opportunities for people to pursue careers in healthcare while helping strengthen the workforce of caregivers our communities will depend on for years to come,” said Sam Hazen, CEO of HCA Healthcare.
