Rowena Alegría is a storyteller and recent graduate of the MFA program at the Institute of American Indian Arts. Winner of the IAIA Creative Writing Fellowship at Vermont Studio Center and a Ragdale 2019 Residency, she will spend nearly two months in residence in 2019. She was also a finalist for the VIDA Fall Artist Residency and will be in residence at Sundress Academy for the Arts in October 2018. Alegría was a 2018 fellow at Writing by Writers and the Macondo Writers Workshop. She won the Tribal College Journal 2018 fiction competition, with publication in autumn, and was a finalist for the Mississippi Review Fiction Prize 2018; her story appeared in their prize issue summer 2018. She is writing a novel that plays with form and the history of the Southwest.
