VIA will be offering fare-free service to polling locations Saturday to encourage residents to vote for their next mayor, city council representatives and various school bonds.

VIA Metropolitan Transit Authority has offered free trips to the polls since 2016, which has helped residents get their voices heard and increased voter turnout on election day. The service is only available for regular bus service, VIA Link and VIAtrans Paratransit Service throughout the VIA service area and does not apply to the Park & Ride service for Fiesta events.

Customers can download the Transit app or the VIA goMobile+ app, available on Apple or Android smartphones.

San Antonio residents must have a valid Bexar County voter registration card and present it to the bus operator upon boarding in order to receive a free fare trip to the polls.

Registered VIAtrans customers can schedule their trip by phone or online, and must follow VIAtrans policies and procedures.
