The University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) hosted hundreds of people Saturday night to commemorate its 30th annual Light the Way celebration.

Each year, the university draws families and individuals of all ages to the holiday event for a night of speeches and special music and dance performances, all leading up to the moment when officials flip the switch to the thousands of sparkling colored lights placed throughout the campus.

This year’s theme was “The lights are bright on Broadway” and featured performances by the Incarnate Word High School Madrigals, the St. Anthony Catholic Elementary School choir and jazz band, and the UIW spirit teams, chorale, and wind ensemble. Patsy Torres, one of the most prominent Tejano singers today, was the night’s special musical guest.

The UIW campus will be illuminated nightly for self-guided tours through Jan. 6, 2017.
