The TwoTen Empire Concert Series was announced last night during Freetail Brewing Co.‘s Piñata Protest Beer launch celebration.
Moments before a mariachi band took to the stage to introduce Piñata Protest, the local Tex-Mex/punk rock band that Freetail has named a seasonal beer after, The Majestic and The Charline McCombs Empire Theatre General Manager Mike Riley announced the new concert series alongside several Freetail representatives. Riley was able to provide limited details on stage, but the Empire theater erupted in cheers over the news that Empire Theatre and Freetail will bring local bands to the theater starting on Friday, June 5, as part of the new TwoTen Empire enterprise.
Its website, www.twotenempire.com, went live Friday night and acts as a portal for information regarding the new series. Tickets for each of the six monthly concerts will cost $10 and will be available online, at the box office, and at the door before each show (provided they don’t sell out).
The first concert on June 5 will feature indie/alt-rock band The Lost Project. The trio is wrapping up production of their debut album “Far From Where You Are,” which was recorded here in San Antonio at Harter Studios. The show at the Empire Theatre will also serve as The Lost Project’s CD release concert.
Details of the preceding concerts in the series will be released as soon as they’re available, said theater representatives.
