Downtown Tuesday, the Center City Development Office‘s initiative and partnership with downtown businesses to draw people to the center city by offering free parking and discounted activities, presents the second annual Be-Cause event 6:30-9 p.m. tonight at The Worm Tequila and Mezcal Bar at 123 Losoya St.
Tickets for the event can be purchased on Eventbrite.com, for $20 a person – space is limited and sales close at 5:30 p.m. A portion of the total ticket sales will benefit United Way of San Antonio.
United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County is dedicated to helping children, families and individuals by assisting with food, clothing, shelter and safety.
Ticket price includes drinks, a taco bar by Rio Rio Cantina and live entertainment. A tropical scavenger hunt is also on the evening’s agenda. The hunt will include gifts from Mad Dog’s British Pub, Swiq Martini Bar, Iguana Room, Beer Garden and The Worm.
Tuesday evenings generally provide slow business to restaurants, bars, and entertainment venues, but Downtown Tuesday has succeeded in bringing an increased amount of people to the downtown area, officials have said.
Since the initiative’s start by District 1 Councilman Diego Bernal, Downtown Tuesday has been on the calendar for more than two years attracting more than 73,000 vehicles downtown, according to City statistics.
“I know Tuesday will never be like Saturday night,” quipped Bernal at the Be-Cause press conference earlier this year, but it’s a great opportunity to bring people downtown on an otherwise slow night.
Free parking in all city-owned garages, lots and meters, except for Houston Street Garage, can be enjoyed from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m.
