Weekend work on the Lamar Street Bond project will temporarily close the intersection of Lamar Street at North New Braunfels Avenue on San Antonio’s East Side, just south of Interstate 35. The closure will last from Friday at 7 p.m. to Sunday at 9 p.m. on the weekends of Feb. 15 and Feb. 22.
The City of San Antonio’s Transportation and Capital Improvements department is upgrading the road between Austin Street and North New Braunfels Avenue. Work is expected to be completed by June. The next two weekends’ closures will allow the San Antonio Water System to finish water and sewer reconstruction work.
A message board and detour signs will alert drivers about the road closures, and uniformed traffic officers will be stationed nearby to direct traffic around the construction zone.
