San Antonio is known as the “Theme Park Capital of Texas” for good reason, with its 663 combined acres of attractions and entertainment parks. And nearly every park is undergoing multimillion-dollar expansions for 2025.

While Visit San Antonio doesn’t count how many people visit exclusively for the theme parks, Six Flags Fiesta Texas reported 22.2 million people visited its parks in 2023, and SeaWorld San Antonio said 26.7 million guests visited its parks the same year.

Here’s what’s coming:

SeaWorld San Antonio and Aquatica

SeaWorld San Antonio recently revealed plans for its newest kid-friendly rescue-themed attraction, set to open in 2025.

In July, SeaWorld San Antonio filed project details with the Texas Department of License and Regulation for a $6 million, 146,000-square-foot expansion. Project details say construction is expected to be completed in March.

Rescue Jr. will add two new rides, like the all family roller coaster Beach Rescue Racer, which takes riders down 1,300 feet of tracks to aid stranded beach creatures, and the Seabird Swing, which encourages children to dream of soaring in the sky and save birds.

An interactive train ride will take its passengers throughout the park on a simulated mission to locate sea creatures in distress. After a day of saving animals, families will be able to cool off at the Sea Splash, a playful splash pad.

SeaWorld San Antonio opened the first Rescue Jr. at its San Diego park in 2017. Aquatica recently opened Tikitapu Splash, the 15,000-square-foot “ultimate water playground for kids” and SeaWorld San Antonio opened Catapult Falls in the spring, “the world’s only vertical lift flume coaster,” lifting riders more than 55 feet in an elevator, then plunging them into water at 37 miles per hour at a 53-degree angle, making it “the steepest drop in a flume ride.”

For Halloween, see the park transform into Howl-O-Scream through Oct. 27 and visit six haunted houses and eight terror-tories included with park admission. Find themed bars across the park, like Voodoo and Blood Thirsty, and see live entertainment including Monster Stomp and SINdustry District cirque shows.

After 7 p.m., the scare level increases from haunting to horrifying and is not recommended for young children. To see haunted house and terror-tories details and themes, click here

Visit during regular hours until Oct. 31 for a more traditional Halloween experience, like trick-or-treating or a pumpkin maze, and show off your costume at the SeaWorld Spooktacular, a not-so-scary Halloween experience for everyone.

SeaWorld San Antonio is open all year. Aquatica’s season ends in October. Daily tickets start at $56.99. Season passes are 25% off for a limited time, starting at $99.99.

Six Flags Fiesta Texas

Six Flags Fiesta Texas is in the process of completing a $1.5 million, 15,000 square-foot DC Universe Project, adding new attractions, park enhancements and three new rides, according to the park’s website, “Creating the largest DC Universe at any amusement park in the United States.”

“The addition of three new rides along with the reimagining of several others will create the largest and most exciting DC Universe at any amusement park in the U.S. We’re excited to introduce our guests to this truly immersive experience,” said Jeffrey Siebert, president of Six Flags Fiesta Texas.

New rides at SixFlags Fiesta Texas include Cyborg Cyber Revolution, Shazam! Tower of Eternity and Metropolis Transit Authority.

It also upgraded some rides, transforming them into The Penguin: Gotham City Getaway, Supergirl Sky Flight and Poison Ivy Toxic Spin. Construction is expected to be completed in October, according to project documents from the TDLR.

Six Flags Fiesta Texas is open year around. The Hurricane Harbor water park season ended Sept. 2. Daily tickets start at $49. Season passes start at $69.

Morgan’s Wonderland

Ultra-accessible theme park Morgan’s Wonderland re-opened in the spring after a $6.5 million expansion.

The expansion included a 4D cinema in Sensory Village, giving viewers the sensation of riding a rollercoaster, a passenger boat ride with views of a newly added zip line adventure over the lake, and a wheelchair-accessible ride.

The 2024 season ends Nov. 4 and the park reopens in the spring of 2025.

Daily tickets start at $26 for kids and $34 for adults. Season passes start at $40.
