Get to know the candidates for
federal, statewide and Bexar County races
It’s midterm election season, and the San Antonio Report’s election guide is here to answer all your most important questions.
What’s at stake? Nationally, control of the U.S. House and Senate. Closer to home, issues including abortion, immigration and the Uvalde shooting could compel voters to head to the polls.
On Nov. 8, Texans will vote in races to elect the governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, comptroller of public accounts and land commissioner, among other offices. Democrats are trying to break the Republicans’ 24-year lock on those statewide offices. And for the first time in more than two decades, Bexar County voters will choose a new county executive (or “county judge,” as we Texans style it).
The San Antonio Report’s in-depth election guide will help inform voters about who’s running for offices up and down the ballot, drawn from our reporting and public sources including Ballotpedia, the Center for Tech and Civic Life and the Texas Secretary of State’s office.
And because information about local judicial candidates can be hard to find, the San Antonio Report asked these candidates to provide information about their legal experience and other topics, meaning our 2022 voter guide is the most comprehensive look at the Bexar County ballot we’ve ever done.
Key dates to know:
