The Rivard Report, now four years old, has grown significantly since it became a nonprofit last year. By increasing the size of our staff, we’ve been able to reach deeper into the community and offer a range of formats to tell the stories that impact your daily life in San Antonio. It’s all thanks to the contributions of hundreds of individuals and businesses throughout the city that have signed up to become members and support community journalism.
This year, we’re participating in The Big Give SA, a 24-hour online donation campaign on Tuesday, May 3. The goal: Raise a total of $6 million for 1,050 nonprofits in south central Texas. Your donation to The Rivard Report during The Big Give SA is a pledge to support our continued growth as an independent, nonprofit news source.
Each contribution on Tuesday will also help us compete for a $10,000 grant that will be given to organizations with the most individual donations – so please spread the word to your friends, family members, and neighbors. The Big Give SA accepts donations of at least $10 to any participating nonprofit.
Our team of energetic staff journalists and dozens of freelance writers and photographers make the Rivard Report tick, but we also provide a platform for commentaries from civic and community leaders, entrepreneurs and other business leaders, educators and artists, elected officials and San Antonians from all walks of life. Without fear or favor, or any obligation to outside owners or interests, we publish stories about San Antonio’s personalities, neighborhoods, businesses, politics, culture, cuisine, sports, arts and entertainment. We spotlight the challenges ahead as well as solutions proposed.
Many givers wisely split up their donations between several nonprofits as there are so many to choose from. We hope you find our dedication to our work and city worthy of at least part of your generosity on Tuesday.
Once you’ve donated to the Rivard Report via The Big Give SA’s website, join us for a San Antonio culture and ’90s-themed trivia night at Freetail Brewing Co., 2000 South Presa St., on Tuesday evening.

Our staff will be on hand to test the ’90s knowledge of you and your team of up to five members. The quiz will feature five rounds, with 10 questions per round, and anything from classic Spurs games to grunge rock to The Real World is fair game. Flannel shirts and snap bracelets are encouraged.
Doors open at 6 p.m., and trivia will start at 6:30 p.m.
Click the “Pledge Your Support” button below to receive periodic email reminders to donate on May 3. We promise not to abuse your inbox, and notifications will stop after Tuesday at midnight.
