Southtown traffic into downtown is about to slow down for an extended period as the City prepares to close one of the northbound lanes on South Alamo Street at Nueva Street. The closure will take place Saturday and remain in place for nine months to allow “workers to construct an underground concrete box for utilities.”
“Two-way traffic will remain in place at all times and pedestrians will have a temporary sidewalk available,” a City press release stated.
The utility work is part of the redevelopment of Hemisfair Park now underway.

Incredible! Nine months for a box?
In some countries a whole skyscraper goes up in nine months. Or less.
Couldn’t they somehow install this remarkable box aboveground ?

Get a bike.
When will the entire rebuild of South Alamo into a complete street occur?
