The holidays in San Antonio are surely a magical time for residents and visitors alike. From the lighting of the River Walk to family tamaladas, San Antonio’s unique celebrations mix traditional holiday festivities with the cultures that have made this city great.
With so many unique celebrations going on this season, we want to turn to our readers to highlight favorite memories in San Antonio during the holidays. We want to visually document the many ways people celebrate the holidays in San Antonio – past or present – by featuring a sampling of reader photos on our homepage.
Photos of family celebration, special traditions, personal or public events – any photo that you feel captures San Antonio’s holiday spirit are welcome and encouraged. Whether you’re a professional or casual photographer, all (appropriate) entries will be featured.

We cherish the participation of our readers, which sets us apart from other local media. Some of the best stories and photos we publish come from you. With the help of our friends at ARTS San Antonio (ARTSSA), we also will select the best entry for a special holiday gift: four seats in the orchestra at ARTSSA’s opening night presentation of “The Nutcracker” on Friday, Dec. 20 at 7:30 p.m at the Lila Cockrell Theatre.
The contest closes at midnight on Sunday, Dec. 8 and the winner will be announced Monday, Dec. 9.
There are three ways to enter:
1 & 2) Tag us in a photo on your Facebook (The Rivard Report) or Twitter (@rivardreport) account and use the hashtag #RRholidaySA
3) Email your photo as an attachment (.jpg) to jaime@rivardreport.com.
Be sure to briefly include when and where the photo was taken. Only photos that you own will be considered – while you are welcome to submit a photo taken by a family member or friend with their permission, do not submit work that you do not have the right to share.
We look forward to seeing all the wonderful things our readers and their families do in the Alamo City during the holidays.
