Voters will head to the polls ahead of the Nov. 5 election to choose a new U.S. president, cast their ballots for candidates in statewide and local races, and either approve or reject a number of rare San Antonio City Charter amendments.
The deadline to register to vote is Oct. 7 and early voting begins Oct. 21.

Aside from the presidential race, Texas has an exciting U.S. Senate contest between Republican Ted Cruz and Democrat Colin Allred this year, and a number of contested congressional races.
At the state level, Bexar County voters are choosing the lawmakers who will represent them in Austin for what’s sure to be a high-stakes legislative session in 2025.
Locally, the Bexar County Sheriff is on the ballot, as are two County Commissioners, constables and a whole slate of judges. We’re particularly interested in the Fourth Court of Appeals, where races have been coming down to slim margins in recent years. Voters will also choose representatives for the State Board of Education and the Texas Railroad Commission.
And don’t forget San Antonio City Charter amendments, where you’ll get to weigh in on potential changes like higher pay and longer terms for council members.
The San Antonio Report’s election guide draws from candidate questionnaires, the Texas Secretary of State’s office, campaign websites, original reporting and other news sources to provide information on the local races you might otherwise not hear much about.
