Fireworks are sure to light up San Antonio’s skies Tuesday for the Fourth of July. Starting this weekend, there are numerous opportunities to celebrate the holiday in inexpensive, family-friendly ways.

If you’re looking to have fun on the water, listen to great live music, enjoy delicious food or engage with your community, here are the different events going on across the city.

Market Square Fourth of July Celebration

Enjoy live music performances, food vendors, artisans, Zumba and patriotic characters at Historic Market Square.

San Antonio FC Independence Day Celebration

Celebrate the holiday weekend with a spectacular soccer match between San Antonio FC and Birmingham Legion FC, including an exciting fireworks show.

Armed Forces Parade

If you’re looking for an early celebration, attend the free San Antonio Armed Forces Parade while seated at the River Walk’s Arneson Theatre on July 2. 

The 40-minute-long parade will start at 203 S. St. Mary’s Street at 6 p.m., and will feature this year’s theme, “Heart, Spirit and Soul.”

Spectators can also pop out their lawn chairs along the parade route to see patriotically decorated floats carrying all branches of military personnel and numerous businesses and nonprofits who honor and support the military community.

San Antonio Missions post-game fireworks

Bring the whole family to enjoy some great baseball the whole weekend as the San Antonio Missions play the Frisco Roughriders.

On June 1, stay after the game for an exciting fireworks show presented by the Alamo Colleges. Game starts at 7:05 p.m.

On June 3, Bud Light presents the H-E-B Independece Day Celebration, with a post-game concert by Cody Canada and The Departed along with a fireworks display. Game starts at 6:05 p.m.

Tickets to the baseball game include post-game activities.

H-E-B Fourth of July Celebration at Woodlawn Lake Park

Every year, San Antonio families bring out their grills, tents and lawn chairs at Woodlawn Lake Park for the official city celebration, “Make Freedom Green” to grill burgers and carnitas all day ahead of the 12-minute fireworks extravaganza at 9 p.m. 

Local food trucks and vendors will be serving up turkey legs, hot dogs, gorditas, mangonadas, chicken on a stick, and much more. 

The free event, hosted by the San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department, the San Antonio Parks Foundation, H-E-B, and others, will also have live musical performances and free fitness classes offering Zumba and water aerobics.

The Schertz Fourth of July Jubilee

Whether you want to watch or participate, the Schertz ‘Let Freedom Ring’ 5K kicks off at 9:15 a.m. Following the run, the Patriotic parade will march down the streets of downtown at 9:30 a.m.

It’s almost tradition in Schertz for people to enjoy the firework show while floating on pool noodles in the Pickrell Park pool. While the event is free, tickets are required to access the pool. As of Wednesday, entrance to the pool was sold out. But you can still enjoy live music will play throughout the park and a variety of vendors will sell drinks, food and crafts.

GNW annual Fourth of July Parade

The Great Northwest Community’s parade starts at 10 a.m. at Zachry Middle School, goes down Timber Path until reaching Timberwilde Elementary. Spectators are welcome to sit along Timber Path with chairs and blankets. At noon, organizers will hand out barbeque and hot dogs at Silver Creek Pool.

Independence Day at the Alamo

Celebrate at the Alamo with a range of demonstrations and programs throughout the day, where you can go back in time. Topics include 1700s Spanish Colonial soldiers, weaving and mission life, weapons, leatherwork, artillery and black powder firing demonstrations.

Salute America’s Heroes at Morgan’s Wonderland

Enjoy a foam party, patriotic face painting and exotic animals encounters throughout the day at Morgan’s Wonderland. The amusement park gives military members, first responders, and their immediate families a discounted admission per person with valid ID. Guests with special needs and children ages 2 and younger may enter for free.
