If you haven’t noticed the massive bleachers and sporadic folding chairs camped out in downtown San Antonio this week, then you’ve probably been avoiding Fiesta parade routes. These seats were filled Friday during the Battle of Flowers Parade, which has been celebrated for more than 120 years. Thousands of people lined the streets wearing their best Fiesta garb to watch marching bands, floats, and Fiesta royalty pass by.
The parade started at The Pearl, passed by the Alamo for ceremonial flower laying, then headed west on Commerce Street. I was able to get on top of a third story studio to photograph the intersection of Jones and Broadway, the scenes are even more stunning from a bird’s eye view.
