Charter network KIPP Texas announced Wednesday afternoon that students would not be able to return to its seven San Antonio campuses for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year because of the coronavirus pandemic.
KIPP plans to continue distance learning for students until next school year. The charter network will continue providing meal service to families.
IDEA Public Schools announced less than a week ago that all IDEA campuses would not reopen for the rest of the 2019-20 school year. San Antonio’s traditional public school districts are closed until May 4 but might announce further closure decisions.
KIPP enrolls more than 3,500 students in San Antonio and operates two elementaries, three middle schools, and two high schools.
