Brilliant satire!
The Trump rise is scary because so many, from the ratings-driven media to cowed politicians to citizens with their heads buried in the sand, are complicit in allowing this megalomaniac bully to ramrod his way to the presidency. If elected, Trump could easily destroy our democracy.
Sinclair Lewis, the first American writer to win the Nobel Prize for Literature, wrote a book called It Can’t Happen Here, about the rise of a populist poseur who deceives a gullible public into believing he will instantly solve all country’s complex economic and social problems. Once in office, he then becomes a war-mongering, deceitful dictator who shuts down all dissent.
