The River Walk was packed with San Antonians and visitors Friday night as they watched more than two dozen river barges float by with characters from popular movies on board.

The theme for the 37th annual Ford Holiday River Parade, “Christmas at the Movies,” inspired costumes from contemporary and classic films, ranging from A Christmas Story, to Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

People watched from restaurants, bridges, hotel windows, and almost all other vantage points along the three-mile parade route downtown. The river parade started right after the ceremonial tree-lighting in Travis Park, where holiday-themed events will take place for the next month. Click here to download a full schedule.

  1. The new lights are so underwhelming.
Please can we revisit before next holiday season?
Travis park looks fabulous by comparison.
Time to spend some money or risk losing a great SA day for all
