H-E-B could make a $700 million investment to grow its supply and logistics facilities on the eastern edge of San Antonio.

The grocery company announced an expansion of its supply chain operations that could lead to 720 new jobs by 2028 and it’s considering an 870-plus acre property on Foster Road for that investment.

The project could include a new bakery, refrigerated warehouse, trailer return center and manufacturing expansion, according to a press release. The project is in a planning phase, but construction could start this year and be completed by 2028.

H-E-B could hire another 500 workers by 2038 to work at the site. There are already 1,400 workers employed at the site.

“These efforts will complement existing operations and support the company’s growing supply chain operations across the region and state. The project will be the company’s largest investment in its manufacturing and supply-chain division,” read the company’s press release.

H-E-B bought the land in 2018 and has invested $445 million at the Foster Road site, in which a dry distribution facility is located. In late 2025, the company filed permits to build a $12 million flammable storage warehouse.
