CPS Energy is hosting its 9th annual Grillsgiving — a celebration of great music, activities for all ages and a grilling competition with high steaks! Since 2014, Grillsgiving has been a source of joy, allowing visitors to savor some of San Antonio’s best barbecue and jam to local musicians while supporting the Residential Energy Assistance Partnership (REAP), a nonprofit foundation that helps families in need pay their utility bills throughout the year and educates them on energy-saving conservation measures to help them save money.
On Saturday, Nov. 2, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., Hangar 9 at Brooks City Base will buzz with the sights, sounds and aromas of Grillsgiving. This event, made with the entire family in mind, will feature 60-plus grilling teams ready to fire up their grills and compete for the best barbecue.
San Antonio takes pride in its grub, and Grillsgiving is the perfect chance to show that we have some of the best barbecue in the world. Not only is Grillsgiving a sizzling competition of grill masters serving top-notch, award-winning barbecue, but it is also filled with fun for the whole family!
Coming from their Vegas residency, the Spazmatics, known for their ’80s cover songs with a twist, will play a special performance supporting this cause. Take a chance and compete with your family and friends in festival-style games. Young children can have fun, too, in the special Lil’ Grillers Kid Zone.
Ultimately, Grillsgiving is about making a difference. The event’s proceeds fund REAP, a nonprofit foundation that serves as a lifeline for many in San Antonio, providing financial assistance on utility bills to low-income families, older adults and individuals with disabilities. Through REAP, qualified customers receive a credit on their CPS Energy bill and receive information about weatherization, low-cost to no-cost energy efficiency programs, senior citizen aid and critical care assistance. Grillsgiving is a great place to meat and greet, while also helping our community access essential services.
