Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry recently announced his endorsement for Donald Trump as the Republican presidential nominee. But Trump is hardly Perry’s first choice. Before ending his presidential campaign in September, Perry often criticized the business mogul and even called him a “cancer on conservatism.”
Now, he claims he will do whatever he can to support Trump and his campaign.
The endorsement came not long after U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (Texas-R) announced the suspension of his presidential campaign, which followed a devastating loss to Trump in the Indiana primaries on Tuesday. Trump’s Democratic opponent has yet to be determined, as Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders continue to vie for the Democratic Presidential nomination.
