For those who don’t want the traffic or the crowds of Austin City Limits Music Festival in Austin this weekend, there’s a way to enjoy the sounds without having to go too far from home. Starting Friday afternoon, Burleson Yard Beer Garden, the popular Eastside spot that opened up this past March, will be live-streaming the entire first weekend.
In its 15th year, ACL Fest features musicians from a variety of genres, and routinely draws millions of attendees over the two weekends it’s held at Austin’s Zilker Park. Headliners of this year’s festival include Kendrick Lamar, The Chainsmokers, Mumford & Sons, Major Lazer, and Radiohead, which will perform Friday night. For a full lineup, click here.
Burleson General Manager Daniel Delgado told the Rivard Report that the beer garden – located at 430 Austin St. – is the only place in San Antonio showing the concerts in full, for all three days. The concerts will be projected on an indoor screen starting at 2 p.m. and, “as soon as the sun goes down,” the show will move to the outdoor screen, running to the last concert at 10 p.m.
The event is sponsored by Red Bull, which has been offering live music screenings in major cities across the country over the past few years. The screening at Burleson, which is free and open to the public, will give attendees the chance to experience some of the world’s biggest acts without the hefty price tag of a three-day festival pass, which go for $255 at retail price.
“There’s (also) drink specials and a raffle,” Delgado added. “Everybody that comes in to hang out will be entered in a drawing for tickets to the second weekend.”
The beer garden will give away six pairs of one-day wristbands for entry to the second weekend of the festival in Austin, two for each day.
Delgado said Burleson’s location on the burgeoning Eastside, a historic part of the city that’s currently undergoing a transformation, gives the event a heightened sense of city pride.
“The ability to give the city a reason to come out to this side of town is a unique one,” he said. “We give them that opportunity and let them know that it’s like any other part of the city and it’s okay to be down here. Everybody is more than welcome to come.”
