Susan Oliver Heard, vice chair of the San Antonio Zoning Commission, was born in San Antonio at the downtown Nix hospital. She attended Colorado College for her BA, followed by the Gemological Institute of America in Carlsbad, Calif. for certifications in gemology, jewelry, and design. She moved back to Texas in 2012 to be closer to her family and investigate if she could make an impact on the art scene in San Antonio. She's a member of the board of directors at Blue Star Contemporary art museum and the Artist Foundation; on the advance team board for MD Anderson cancer hospital; sits on the civic, art, and cultural committee for Hemisfair Park; and is on the advisory board for the new and exciting Hill Country Science Mill in Johnson City, Texas. She is a graduate of last year's Leadership San Antonio class 39. Susan opened the Cinnabar gallery in 2013.
