Leticia Del Toro is a poet, essayist and short story writer with roots in Jalisco, Mexico.. Her work has appeared in Huizache, Zyzzyva, Mutha Magazine, About Place Journal and others. She received her M.A. in English from the University of California Davis. Leticia's awards and honors include a Hedgebrook Residency for Women Authoring Change, a fellowship from the NY State Summer Writers Institute and a 2016 Rona Jaffe Scholarship to attend Bread Loaf. Her story "Café Colima" won the 2016 Kore Press Fiction Prize, as chosen by Edwidge Danticat. It received a Pushcart Prize nomination and is available as a chapbook. A valued member of many writing communities, Leticia has presented her work with Voices of Our Nations Arts and the Macondo Writers Workshop. Her stories and poems center themes of intercultural conflict, addiction and finding wonderment in hard times. She has written a story collection, "Café Colima," and is currently at work on her novel, "Return to Azucena."
