In addition to her work with the San Antonio Public Library as teen services coordinator, Jennifer Velasquez is a lecturer at the San Jose State University School of Information in California. In 2011, she was named as a Mover & Shaker by Library Journal, and in 2005, a recipient of the New York Times Librarian Award. Her programs were twice recognized as YALSA Excellence in Library Service to Young Adults Award recipients. In 1996, her work was recognized with the La Promesa Award for Outstanding Programming to Latino Youth from The National Latino Children’s Institute.
