At San Antonio ISD, which serves roughly 45,000 students, will elect two out of seven of its school board seats on the May 3 ballot.

SAISD uses single-member districts, meaning each candidates represents a specific geographic region. Find out which district you live in here. Board members serve four-year terms.

Last year, SAISD closed several schools in a “rightsizing” effort and is considering closing more campuses if it doesn’t get more funding from the state. Currently, the district has a budget deficit of $51 million.

In District 1, longtime trustee Sarah Sorensen faces a challenge from Mike Villarreal, a longtime Democratic state lawmaker. In District 3, trustee Leticia Ozuna also has a contested reelection race.

Races in Districts 4 and 7 were cancelled, since there wasn’t a contested race. The rest of the board is up for reelection in 2027.

Races are decided by a plurality vote, meaning the candidate with the most votes wins outright on May 3.

Early voting runs April 22 through April 29 for the May 3 election, and voters can choose from any of these 46 early voting locations. Hours vary by date and location.

The names are listed below in the order they will appear on the ballot. Incumbent status will not be indicated on the ballot.
