Alamo Heights Independent School District, which serves roughly 5,000 students, will elect school board members for three out of seven seats on the May 3 ballot.

AHISD board members are elected at-large, meaning they each represent the entire school district, as opposed to a specific geographic region. The members serve staggered, three-year terms.

Place 1 is up for reelection this year, with AHISD Board President David Hornberger running uncontested for a fourth term. In Place 2, two candidates are running to replace exiting trustee Brian Hamilton, who has held the seat since 2018.

In Place 4, trustee Hunter Kingman was appointed to fill a vacancy last year, and is now running uncontested to complete a previous board member’s unexpired term. The seat will be on the ballot again in 2026, for a full three-year term.

Races are decided by a plurality vote, meaning the candidate with the most votes wins outright on May 3.

Currently, Alamo Heights ISD has an unprecedented budget deficit of approximately $2.5 million.

Early voting runs April 22 through April 29 for the May 3 election, and voters can choose from any of these 46 early voting locations. Hours vary by date and location.
