Longtime Councilwoman Melissa Cabello Havrda (D6) is leaving the seat to run for mayor and eight candidates are running to take her place. If no candidate takes at least 50% of the vote on May 3, the top two finishers will advance to a June 7 runoff.

All of San Antonio’s 10 City Council seats will be on the May 3 municipal election ballot, along with a crowded mayoral race.

Council members elected this year will serve a four-year term, thanks to new longer council limits approved by voters in November.

The job will pay $70,200 per year.

Candidate information comes from candidate websites, filing documents and other sources.
