Trinity University is excited to announce the 2023-24 Policy Maker Breakfast Series guest speakers: Rebecca Patterson, Michael McFaul, Marty Makary and Mark McKinnon. The university is proud to invite these national and international leaders to the city to present their lively and informative commentary on current and emerging issues.

The Policy Maker Breakfast Series began in 1981 to foster a connection between Trinity University and the San Antonio business community. Over the past 42 years, the Policy Maker Breakfast Series has become the premier event of its kind in the city, attracting an extraordinarily diverse, intellectual and influential audience. Presented by Trinity University in a new partnership with Bank of America, this series is sponsored by the Stevens Academic Enrichment Fund and the Office of Conferences and Special Programs.

This year, the breakfast series has found a new home at the Dawson Family Hall at the Witte Museum at 3801 Broadway. For each event, doors will open at 7 a.m. for a networking session, breakfast will be served at 7:30 a.m. and the program will begin at 8 a.m., followed by a question and answer session.

Tickets for the complete Policy Maker Breakfast Series, which include all four breakfasts, cost $190, and tickets for individual breakfasts are available for $55. Tickets for the individual breakfasts will be made available on Tuesday, Sept. 5. 2023-2024 Policy Maker Breakfast Lineup

  • Rebecca PattersonMBA, is a globally recognized investor and macroeconomic researcher with more than 25 years of experience studying how politics and policy intersect with economic trends to drive financial markets. On Tuesday, Sept. 16, Patterson will present “Global Perspectives: What’s Ahead for Major Economies in 2023 and Beyond.”
  • Michael McFaul, Ph.D., is a professor of political science, a Hoover Fellow at Stanford University and director and senior fellow at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies. McFaul served as the U.S. Ambassador to the Russian Federation from January 2012 to February 2014. Before becoming the ambassador, he served for three years as the special assistant to the president and senior director for Russia and Eurasian Affairs at the National Security Council. On Tuesday, Nov. 7, McFaul will present “Great Power Competition in the 21st Century: Lessons from the Cold War for Dealing with China and Russia Today.”  
  • Martin MakaryM.D., is a professor at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and Johns Hopkins Carey Business School and has been a visiting professor at over 20 medical schools. He is the editor-in-chief of Medpage Today and has written for The Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and USA Today. His book Unaccountable turned into the TV series “The Resident.” On Tuesday, Feb. 6, Makary will present “The Future of Healthcare.”
  •  Mark McKinnon is a political advisor, reform advocate, media columnist and television producer. He is the creator, executive producer and co-host of Showtime’s real-time political documentary series, “The Circus” — the most successful unscripted show in the history of the network that’s now entering its ninth season. On Tuesday, April 9, McKinnon will present “Inside the Circus.”
