Your support — doubled!

We’ve set a goal to raise $100,000 by Dec. 31 and we’ll need your help to do it. All new donations between now and the end of the year will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $100,000 thanks to a generous gift from The John and Florence Newman Foundation.

We’re on a mission to inform and connect all San Antonio residents with quality in-depth local news so they can better live their lives. This work matters, and the best part is that it’s made possible by the people we serve: our readers.

Organizers ran out of grocery store gift cards hours before expected on Sunday as area residents traded in more than 850 guns to be destroyed.

A police officer moves a rifle during a gun buyback program in Houston inFebruary. Dozens of cars were waiting on Saturday in the gun drop-off line at Harris County's Deussen Park, where police weapons experts attended to them one by one. Gun owners had to leave their weapons in the trunk or back seat, where they were retrieved by an officer, checked to make sure they were unloaded and registered in a document.
