Historic Westside brothel the Dashiell House burns, deemed ‘a total loss’

One of the last remaining structures of an early neighborhood on San Antonio’s West Side has burned down, ending a years-long debate on whether it should be recognized as a historic landmark.

The Dashiell House located at 503 Urban Loop will be declared a historic landmark following a vote by the Historic and Design Review Commission to preserve the former brothel-turned orphanage.
