Mohammad Bilal and his wife, Humaira, were one of the last people who escaped Afghanistan as the Taliban seized control of the capital city of Kabul and just before the U.S. military completed its total withdrawal from the war-torn country. The couple lived on military bases in Qatar, Germany and New Mexico before being resettled in San Antonio this fall. They posed for a portrait in their small one-bedroom apartment they just moved into last week.
