Failure can be instructive. So declares F—up Nights, a “flawsome” storytelling series that runs Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Black Potion, featuring San Antonio-area entrepreneurs talking about what they’ve learned from their worst moments. Free!
Did you know this Friday is Park(ing) Day? Organized by Centro San Antonio and the 80|20 Foundation, it’s a day where folks transform downtown parking spaces — mostly around Houston and North Flores streets — into tiny parks for art, play and community engagement.
The Esperanza Peace and Justice Center is hosting its Nichos y Dichos MujerArtes exhibit and sale with an opening reception on Saturday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. featuring music by DJ Despeinada. The event takes place at the cozy Rinconcito de Esperanza on Colorado Street. If you can’t make it Saturday, the exhibit will remain on display through Oct. 12.
The Tobin Center for the Performing Arts celebrates its 10th birthday on Saturday, with a free community block party starting at 5 p.m. featuring presentations by resident companies, legos, a bounce house, food and beverages, a roster of bands including the 210 Jazz Orchestra, Chris Cuevas Project, River City Ringers, and The Hyperphonics, with fireworks at 10 p.m.
Sound artist Justin Boyd will be featured in a rooftop performance at Artpace on Tuesday evening. The free event starts at 6 p.m. with open air, modular synthesizer sounds, breezes and beverages.
