Mayor Ron Nirenberg’s public health emergency declaration, which includes an order to keep all restaurant dining rooms and bars closed to the public, will continue for 30 days (until April 18) to contain the threat of coronavirus.

In light of these developments, many local events, including Fiesta and the Valero Texas Open, have been canceled or postponed.

Events

  • All City-hosted events are canceled.
  • SAWS has postponed its annual Spring Bloom event originally scheduled for March 14.
  • The Big Give has been postponed.
  • The Self Storage Association’s Spring Conference and Trade Show, which was scheduled for March 17-19, has been canceled.
  • Country music duo Dan + Shay have rescheduled their March 19 concert at the AT&T Center for Aug. 1.
  • The Down Syndrome Association of South Texas has canceled all programming for the remainder of March. The World Down Syndrome Day celebration will now be held virtually on March 21.
  • The MEHR Foundation’s Persian Norouz Gala, which was scheduled for March 20, has been canceled. All tickets will be refunded.
  • The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Gala slated for March 21 has been canceled.
  • Archdiocese of San Antonio Youth Spectacular: Walking in the Way of Love, scheduled for March 21, has been canceled. Registration fees will be refunded.
  • The fifth annual San Antonio Regional Public PK-12 Education Forum that was set to take place March 24, along with the Teacher Appreciation Reception at The DoSeum that same evening, have been postponed.
  • The Jewish Federation of San Antonio announced the postponement of their biennial For Hope For Humanity Holocaust Memorial Museum Benefit previously planned for March 25.
  • The National Society of Black Engineers’ 46th Annual Convention, set for March 25-29, has been postponed.
  • The San Antonio Boat & Outdoor Expo scheduled for March 27-29 has been canceled.
  • The César Chávez March for Justice slated for March 28 has been canceled.
  • The San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame Tribute scheduled for March 28 has been canceled. Athletes who were scheduled to be inducted, will instead be inducted next year on Feb. 27, 2021.
  • The San Antonio Book Festival set for April 2-4 has been canceled.
  • Taco Fest: Music Y Más, which was set to take place April 4, has been postponed. 
  • Four X Five Photo Fest, slated for April 4-5, has been postponed.
  • Fiesta San Antonio, originally scheduled for April 16-26, will be postponed until November 5-15.
  • The 2020 Craft Brewer’s Conference, slated for April 19-22, has been canceled.

Museums

  • The DoSeum will be closed through March 2o.
  • The Witte Museum will be closed to the public starting March 14-20.
  • The San Antonio Museum of Art will be closed through March 20. 
  • Ruby City is closed until further notice. All March events have been postponed. The Music in the Park event scheduled for April 20 has also been postponed.
  • The McNay Art Museum is closed until further notice.
  • The Briscoe Western Art Museum – including all galleries, the McNutt Sculpture Garden, and the Jack Guenther Pavilion – is closed until further notice.
  • Villa Finale: Museum & Gardens and The Edward Steves Homestead will be closed through April 13.
  • The UTSA Institute of Texan Cultures will temporarily close its doors to the public until further notice.

Exhibitions and Performances

  • The Tobin Center for the Performing Arts is suspending all performances through April 25.
  • San Antonio Symphony performances have been canceled through April 25.
  • The nonprofit art institution Blue Star Contemporary is closed indefinitely beginning March 14.
  • Artpace is closed indefinitely beginning March 14, along with all programming, including the Spring 2020 International Artist-in-Residence public reception, originally scheduled for March 19.
  • The Carver Community Cultural Center is postponing all performances of Hiplet Ballerinas scheduled for March 20.
  • The Classic Theatre of San Antonio is suspending all performances, with the performance of Our Town postponed to a date yet to be determined.
  • Opera San Antonio has canceled the upcoming performances of Rigoletto, education and community engagement programs, and donor events through the end of May. 
  • The Magik Theatre will temporarily close its doors through May. All scheduled performances, camps, and classes during that time have been canceled.
  • City-owned galleries and exhibits will be closed to the public March 14-March 20.
  • Several performances at the Majestic and Empire Theatres – including Aladdin scheduled for March 25-April 12 – have been postponed or canceled. Check the calendar for a full list.
  • All performances at the Aztec Theatre through the end of March have been canceled or postponed. Check the calendar for a full list.
  • Several events at the Alamodome have been canceled or postponed. Check the venue’s website for a full list.
  • Most concerts at Paper Tiger through the end of March have been canceled or postponed. Check their website for a complete list.

Shopping and Dining

  • All restaurants and bars are closed to in-house patrons for 30 days starting March 19. Restaurants can continue operating drive-through service and fulfilling takeout orders for curbside pickup.
  • Gyms, bingo parlors, bowling alleys, health studios, commercial amusement businesses, and other entertainment businesses confined to a single indoor space are also included in the 30-day shutdown.
  • All programming at The Pearl is suspended until further notice. This includes the Weekend Farmers Market, which is now offering online ordering and curbside pickup.
  • Ingram Park mall is closed until March 29.
  • La Cantera Resort & Spa will temporarily close resort operations starting March 20. During this time, all food and beverage outlets, spa, pools, recreation, golf courses and related services will be closed.

Movie Theaters

  • Alamo Drafthouse locations are closed until further notice.
  • AMC Theaters will close all locations for 6-12 weeks.
  • All Regal theater locations are closed until further notice.
  • Santikos Entertainment locations are temporarily closed.
  • City Base Entertainment is closed until further notice.

Theme Parks

  • Six Flags Fiesta Texas will be closed through the end of March.
  • SeaWorld will be closed March 16-31.

Sporting Events

  • The 2019-20 NBA season has been suspended with 19 regular-season games remaining on the San Antonio Spurs schedule. 
  • PGA officials canceled all upcoming tournaments, including the Valero Texas Open scheduled for April 2-5 at TPC San Antonio.
  • University of Incarnate Word athletics have been suspended until at least March 23. All Spring games in every sport have been suspended by the Southland Conference until March 30.
  • All practices and athletic-related team activities for all 17 sports at the University of Texas at San Antonio have been suspended until further notice. All spring sport competitions and championships have been canceled.

Other

  • All San Antonio Public Library branches will close March 14-22.
  • The San Antonio Zoo is closed to the public until further notice.
  • The San Antonio Botanical Garden is closed to the public until further notice.
  • Natural Bridge Caverns is suspending operations through the end of March.
  • Parks and Recreation after-school activities have been canceled.
  • All City of San Antonio Senior Centers will be closed to the public March 14-22. Meals to seniors will be available for pick up or delivered by the City.
  • Workforce Solutions Alamo is canceling all group activities, including but not limited to job fairs and community events, through April 30.
  • Community Bible Church has canceled all CBC-related activities on- and off-campus and closed its facilities through at least March 23.
