Please tell voters about yourself.

I have served on the Alamo Heights ISD Board of Trustees since 2023 and currently serve as Secretary of the Board. My wife, Colette, and I have been married for 25-years and raised our two sons in Alamo Heights. Payton is an AHISD graduate, and Bentley is a sophomore at The University of Texas at Austin.

I earned a degree in Political Science from The University of Texas at Austin and have spent more than 30 years in the investment business. That experience brings a disciplined, financially responsible approach to board decisions.

As a parent and community member, I have seen firsthand how AHISD prepares students for success beyond graduation. That perspective drives my commitment to maintaining the high standards that define our district.

Please describe the relevant work experience you bring to this job and any endorsements voters should note.

My involvement with AHISD began long before I was elected. I served as Treasurer of the Alamo Heights School Foundation, chaired both the Scholarship Committee and Teacher Fund, and participated in the District Education Advisory Council. I was also active with the Woodridge Dad’s Club, Woodridge Site-Based Committee, and Alamo Heights Little League Board.

Professionally, I bring over 30 years of experience in investment management, with a focus on financial oversight, long-term planning, and accountability. That background is directly applicable to managing district resources responsibly.

I am proud to have earned the trust of parents, educators, and community members who value steady leadership, fiscal discipline, and a continued focus on academic excellence.

Why did you decide to seek this office and how you would approach the role?

I am seeking re-election to protect and strengthen what makes Alamo Heights ISD exceptional. As a parent, I have seen how this district prepares students to succeed in college and beyond, and I want to ensure every student has that same opportunity.

My approach is focused on three priorities: strong academics, responsible financial
management, and support for our teachers and administrators. I believe in thoughtful, well-informed decisions that put students first while maintaining transparency with the community.

This role requires listening, collaboration, and consistency. My goal is to preserve the high standards of AHISD while making strategic decisions that position the district for long-term success.

How do you solicit input and feedback from constituents?

Accessibility and communication are essential. I make it a priority to be available to parents, teachers, and residents through email, community events, and school activities.

I regularly listen to feedback from across the district to better understand concerns, priorities, and opportunities. My experience serving on local boards and committees reinforced the importance of hearing diverse perspectives before making decisions.

I also support transparency through open board meetings and clear communication so residents stay informed and engaged. Every decision benefits from strong community input, and I work to ensure voices are heard while keeping the focus on what is best for students and the district.

What do you see as the biggest challenges your school district is facing and what strategies would you want to implement as solutions?

One of the biggest challenges facing Alamo Heights ISD is managing financial pressure from the State of Texas while maintaining the high level of excellence our community expects. This requires disciplined budgeting and careful prioritization.

Another challenge is ensuring students stay focused on learning and growth in an increasingly competitive environment. Changes such as eliminating class rank beyond the top 10% help shift that focus toward meaningful outcomes.

Moving forward, I will continue prioritizing responsible financial management, supporting our teachers, and ensuring bond-funded projects are completed on time and within budget. By staying focused on these fundamentals, we can preserve the quality of education AHISD is known for and continue preparing students for long-term success.
