Please tell voters about yourself.

I was born in Akron, Ohio and am the 5th out of 7 children and graduated high school from Woodridge HS, Peninsula, Ohio. I married Gary Gibbons, my husband in 1978 and we moved to San Antonio with our daughter in 1982. We have 6 children and 11 grandchildren. Together we built a successful land surveying business for 30 years which we sold in 2020.

List any previous experience in government or participation on local boards, commissions, or neighborhood associations.

I ran for City Council District 9 in 2017 and have served on the following boards/commissions:

Greater Harmony Hills Neighborhood Association, former president (6 years) * Zoning Commissioner (4 years) * San Antonio Housing Trust  * Streets, sidewalks, bridges bond committee * Planning & Technical Advisory board for COSA  * Budget Advisory board for Bexar County  * Small, minority, woman-owned business commission for Bexar County  * Harmony Hills Elementary PTA

In the city’s 2024-2025 budget survey, residents ranked homelessness, streets, housing and animal care services among their top concerns for the city to address. Which issues do you consider a top concern for District 1 and how would you work to address them in your first 100 days?

It is the disconnect and disengagement I will be focusing on for the first 100 days. District 1 public trust in institutions seems to have erode. Without proactive engagement, community issues can worsen, property crime will increase, economic downturns will rise, all add to deteriorating neighborhood conditions, which we can already see and feel.

I will begin a 100-day community engagement program.  It is an action-driven approach to tackle challenges and strengthen trust. That initiative will tackle:

1. Strengthening Community Relationships & Trust
2. Addressing Public Safety & Crime Prevention
3. Tackling Homelessness & Housing Crises
4. Boosting Economic Development & Supporting Small Businesses
5. Improving Infrastructure & Preserving Neighborhoods & Culture

In a crowded field of council candidates, what differentiates you from the others?

I stand apart in this race with a rare combination of experience and reputation in business, government, community and family leadership. With 30 years as a small business owner in land development, I understand responsible growth, zoning, and economic development firsthand.

My service on the zoning commission, housing trust, and Small, Minority, Woman-Owned Business Enterprise gives me insight into policies that support businesses and residents alike. As a six-year neighborhood association president, I’ve worked directly with the community to address concerns. I bring a hands-on approach to public safety, having completed Citizens on Patrol training and a police ride-along.

Unlike many candidates who talk about issues, I’ve worked directly on real solutions. My background uniquely bridges business and community needs, ensuring practical, results-driven leadership—I’m a problem-solver with a track record of getting things done.

If elected, how do you plan to solicit input and feedback from residents in your district?

If elected, I will ensure residents have a direct voice in decision-making through multiple channels. I will host regular town halls and quarterly meetings with NA presidents. I want to hear concerns firsthand. I’ll establish an open-door policy and be accessible through in-person meetings, phone calls, and emails.

Leveraging technology, I’ll use surveys, social media, and virtual forums to engage a broader audience, ensuring every resident has a way to participate. I will also collaborate with neighborhood associations, business owners, and community leaders to gather diverse perspectives on key issues.

Transparency will be a priority—I’ll provide updates on policy decisions and explain how resident feedback shapes my approach. My goal is to be a responsive, solutions-driven representative who listens, communicates clearly, and takes action based on community needs.
