Hear from the candidate

1. Please tell voters about yourself.

  • Business Administration degree from Georgia Tech
  • I played professional baseball for 15 years. Since retiring from baseball, I’ve also been involved in investing in small businesses, startups, and real estate. In addition, I’ve worked with the Texas Public Policy Foundation and supported conservatives like Governor Greg Abbott and Congressman Chip Roy to advance conservative policy priorities. In particular, I’ve been a strong advocate for empowering parents through school choice.

2. Briefly describe your top policy priorities.

Advancing President Trump’s America-First Agenda, including securing our
elections, securing our southern border, and crushing the drug cartels that sow
crime and violence in our communities.

Protecting religious freedoms and strengthening the American family. By doing so,
we will restore the heart of this nation and return to an age of reason.

Addressing affordability by slashing unnecessary regulations and bolstering the
supply chain to make owning a home, starting a family, or starting a business more
feasible for young Americans and working families.

3. What should Congress be doing to rein in inflation and/or stabilize/boost the economy?

Government Efficiency: We must expand DOGE to cut insane wasteful spending.

Strengthen Domestic Energy and Technology Capacity: Texas is a national leader in
energy, aerospace, and tech. Congressional support for research, grid modernization,
and responsible energy development helps maintain that leadership and promotes
stable economic growth

Invest in infrastructure and supply chains: Strengthening highways, ports, broadband
networks, and power grids all support Texas’ rapidly growing population and major
industries, from energy to manufacturing. Reliable infrastructure reduces business costs and attracts investment.

Support Workforce Development & Education: Congress can expand training
programs, apprenticeships, and partnerships between industry and higher education –
helping Texas workers stay competitive in fields like advanced manufacturing,
healthcare, and technology.

Encourage Innovation & Small Business Growth: Policies that expand access to
capital, protect intellectual property, and reduce unnecessary regulatory burdens to help Texas startups and small businesses scale more easily.

4. What should Congress be doing to reform immigration laws?

As a congressional leader for a border state, I would provide direct input on funding for ICE, CBP, Homeland Security, and other agencies tasked with securing our border and cracking down on illegal immigration. We don’t need major immigration reform, we need major immigration enforcement. The Biden administration’s open border policy created chaos in the system, and simply following the laws on the books would solve so many of our immigration problems.

5. At a time when the White House is asserting more control over national security and spending without Congress’ input, how would you handle disagreements over the division of power?

Congress has lost control because it has lost the ability to be effective. I will work with Texas congressional leaders to build effective coalitions, supported by Speaker Johnson, focused on delivering priority policies supported under the America First Agenda. The president is responding to voters who called for action. It’s Congress’ turn to get back to work, and restore the balance of power by securing the trust of the American people.

6. The past year has brought tremendous uncertainty to many Americans surrounding rising health insurance premiums and lack of access to medical care near their homes. What do you believe Congress should be doing to make health care affordable and accessible to residents in your state?

The rampant fraud in Minnesota has exposed the need for more vigilance. I will work to track down the fraud in medicare and medicaid to protect taxpayers. I will ensure that Texas citizens are the only ones receiving care from those programs and will root out the waste, fraud, and abuse, which should be the primary function of every government. I also believe that we need to open up insurance markets, increase competition, and let patients choose the insurance plan that is best for them.
