Please tell voters about yourself.

I have lived in San Antonio for 14 years. I’m a proud Veteran Spouse and a full time Mom. My 3 amazing kids are what motivates me to run because they deserve to have the best education.

List any previous experience in the community or in the education field, such as participation in parent teacher associations, local boards and commissions or neighborhood associations.

I’m a Judson ISD Parent, PTO Treasurer and an active volunteer at schools. I’ve been actively attending meetings of my kids Campus Site Base Committee, Anti Bullying Committee, District Growth and Planning Committee. I have never run for elected office before, this is my first time.

If elected, you’ll likely be facing a budget deficit and the possibility of funding hamstrung by the state. How would you approach these issues? Where should the district turn to save money if needed?

I will look at all the District expenditures and try to cut unnecessary things that don’t directly benefit the students and only fund essential items or services for them. I will ensure that the District will operate within its annual budget.

What do you think the district’s biggest challenges are in the coming years, and what should be the board’s top areas of focus?

These are the challenges that I think the District is facing, our students’ performance is lower compared to other districts and bad behavior, specifically, bullying is not properly addressed, teachers and staff retention and the budget deficit. I will advocate for meaningful disciplinary measures and discuss how to handle students who routinely commit bad behaviors to avoid distraction in the classroom. I will help the teachers get the training and resources needed to properly engage and address students’ bad behavior. Maybe when we address this issue, we can see big improvements in our students’ performance and testing scores. These are my focus:

  • STUDENTS – Improve students’ performance leading to their success, bully free and safe environment for them as well
  • TEACHERS – To retain strong and great teachers, provide the resources they need to be successful in teaching the kids, have a safe environment for them as well
  • BUDGET – To balance the budget and eliminate deficit

Please list any relevant endorsements in this race.

I have been talking to all of the Principal, teachers, admins of the schools, parents and community I will be representing in my area to hear their concerns.
