Kyle Hawkins was appointed by Gov. Greg Abbott in October 2025 to replace retiring Supreme Court Justice Jeff Boyd. Hawkins previously worked for the U.S. Department of Justice, served as the Texas Solicitor General and taught at the University of Texas School of Law. He lives in Austin and is now running for a full six-year term.
